Our Fixer Upper
While these decks may not look like much from the pictures above they have taken quite the beating over the past few years. These mere pieces of wood have had the feet of roughly 4,000 summer campers and 13,000 retreat guests walk across them over the past year. They are the home to many conversations (both good and bad), a way to get from one building to the next, and serves as a great place for people share a meal together.
So why do we share this story with you about our decks? They need some T.L.C.
We need help restoring and repairing them to continue serving the numerous people that come on our grounds each year. We are looking for a group (or groups) to come out and replace deck boards, do some deck repair, sand down some rough edges, and put a nice coat of stain on the deck, railings, and benches.
If you are interested in bringing a crew out to serve us this fall we would love it if you could coordinate with our facilities director, Don DeRuiter, by emailing him at don@manitoqua.org or calling our office at 815.469.2319.
Thank you in advance for helping us out and we look forward to connecting with you soon!
